63rd? Not bad if I do say so myself.

This game was a great, simple distraction. It added challenge , and incentive to rush through. Maybe if you made the obstacles the same retro graphics as the character it may be a little better aesthetically but other than that, it was great. Oh, and I've never placed so well on an overall score board before (Eddi) so that made it even more satisfying. Great work, sir.

thanks and congratulations

Good simple fun.

I had fun with the weapons a lot. Leveling them up made a lot of sense too. However, you should get another artist to do the characters/animations or spend more time on them yourself. Everything just looks too bland and amateur. I encountered a glitch where I died (on 4-2 I believe) and when I came back I couldn't shoot or switch weapons. Just tweak those things, add some less conventional weapons, new areas and maybe some plot and this could be something special. As it is, it's still enjoyable in it's simple state.

Attention lesser beings: I am human, fear me.

You have no right to tell me I'm a sick individual for eating meat. I'm higher up on the food chain. Deal with it. Why not try convincing sharks not to eat other fish or lions to eat zebras? That would have much more productive (and hilarious) results. Go to Hell.

Sweet and simple.

Not the most creative piece but that's not what you were trying to do. This game made me nostalgic for my Super Nintendo without any of the frustration. The card system was a neat idea too. Do something different next time. I'd hate to see you waste your talent on a been-there-done-that shooter.

Graphics

The programming and effects were great for a flash game. Watching a head bleed in mid-air while bouncing about was fun and the simple duck and slash gameplay is addicting. I enjoyed the art during the cutscenes too however the in-game art was lame. The characters looked silly with their lack of detail. The animation doesn't have to be better. If you just added more detail to give the characters and levels a more mature look this game would be fantastic. A little more depth in the gameplay wouldn't hurt either. The way you gave us a look at all the characters' perspectives was interesting too. A sequel would be very appropriate.

Knit Pickin'

I think you have it down when it comes to programming. The cons were the music, art (only somewhat), sound effects, and style. The game was a post-apocalyptic brawler about suicide bombers and a harbinger machine that destroys cities. Therefore the mood should probably have been a little more mature. The king looked like a 'Sonic the Hedgehog' villain and the music was too upbeat. The 'crush' and 'smash' pop-ups were neat but in order to really pull it off you should try to work in a graphic novel theme. The in-game art was good. I like the simplicity of it, but some of the characters didn't seem as detailed as other. The gunsmith, for instance, had really odd proportions. If you tweaked a few things like variating sword slashes and running (as opposed to walking) characters, it would have a dramatic effect on the game's mood and feel. It was a really good game though. Just tweak it and make a sequel (or just a similar game).

Great job...

... but I have some criticism. You should make the bullets more avoidable. I see you're trying to be different (which is great) but typically you want a steady number of enemies and the bosses to shoot in patterns so you can avoid fire. I chose the fastest ship but it got destroyed so often because I couldn't avoid the blankets of fire. You should make it so fast ships can use a homing weapon and focus on dodging while tank characters can get right in on the action. You could also use a little help on the character art. The backgrounds, ship designs, and effects had very good detail (especially the water splashes) . The girl's just seemed a little awkward in their posture and proportions. The experience system with the weapons was great though. The way your experience carries over even after you switch weapons invited me to experiment with others and, even though I died a lot, I knew my weapons were getting stronger so I was never so frustrated I quit in the middle of a level. A sequel would be very agreeable.

Flash Game of the Year

I was so excited to see this. I was a fan of the original and seeing this was a breath of fresh air from the cruddy games that spawned this year. It's Sonic, Mario, and Ninja Gaiden combined to create the most innovative, dynamic Flash platformer ever conceived. The music was perfect and though the gameplay didn't yield any significant changes, you improved upon the fluidity of the movements, animations, and level designs. Keep them coming.

Just as I suspected...

Before I got my hands on Flash, I used to make cartoons via a little game called 'Mario Paint'. In it, there was a simplistic music generator much like this. When I opened this game up I noticed the similarities almost immediately. Then I saw you featured almost every single (if not every) sound in 'Mario Paint'. I don't know much about music so I didn't have much fun with it but the obvious effort and nostalgic value of the submission has won me over.

Pretty lame...

... but it cracked me up. The Vanilla Ice 'Ninja Rap' was awesome. It reminded me of 'Turtles in Time' for Super NES. The game itself must not have taken more than a day to make but thanks for making me laugh.

I'm making more short, simpler animations. I still plan to finish "Lunar Apocalypse Episode 1" but unfortunately I won't be continuing the series afterwords. Don't worry because I have plenty of original ideas already on the back burner.
